The Suds Report: Oct. 3 (Includes some spoilers) « Result #1 on Oct 5, 2008, 3:20pm »
ATWT mentions in this week's Suds Report...
As The World Turns, Global/CBS — Polyester Mafia • Sorry, peeps: It’s pretty quiet on the Oakdale Park front. Although ATWT was a snoozefest this past week, things promise to pick in the next few days. Lucinda is pregnant dog-slapped by Lily; Ali and Aaron end their marriage after two minutes; Carly and Jack bond over their dysfunctional children; and a new anchor joins WOAK. Oh, and Hope becomes addicted to a soap that airs three days a week! “Five hours a week is just too much of a commitment when there’s better fare on prime time and in the cinema,” she says.
• Speaking of airing soaps three days a week, remember when exec Christopher Goutman said he didn’t think viewers wanted to watch his show five days a week? Well, he wasn’t talking out of his you-know-what. The industry buzz says P&G is seriously considering airing GL and ATWT on three days. Which makes perfect sense because if P&G can prove syndicated programming is more profitable for to air on those other two days, their mission to kill the soap world will be realized. And everyone’s hands are “clean,” including CBS’s.
• ATWT is casting yet another young hunk. For the love of Goutman, please don’t let this be another legacy offspring recast? “It’s probably Adam Hughes,” opines one setsider. Didn’t the soap just fire Dylan Bruce (Chris) because of “dusty” budgetary issues?
Procter & Gamble/TeleNext related...
"P&G blacklists Ricky and Beth again!"
• Why does P&G and TeleNext continue to fool themselves that their strong-arm tactics won’t be leaked to the press? GL’s publicity department seriously needs a refresher course in damage control. Will someone tell me where the love is in this story? This past weekend, several GL actors called up The Suds Report to reveal they were “warned” and “encouraged” not to attend Beth Ehlers’ (ex-Harley; Taylor, AMC) and Ricky Paull Goldin’s (ex-Gus; Jake, AMC) farewell fan-club gathering. Of course, no one from GL showed up to support their former castmates. Cowards. What could P&G possibly do in retaliation? They already pay their cast nothing and humiliate them on a daily basis with horrible production and writing. Would a pink slip be so bad?
Instead of letting things fester, Holden admits to Lily that Dusty being back is upsetting to him but they agree to trust each other and move forward. Do they make the right decision? Speaking of Dusty, he and Emily reconnect. Will they get intimate? While on the other side of Oakdale, Paul begs Meg to get him out of the hospital. Is he well enough to be release? Can Meg make his wish come true? At the same time, Alison and Susan discuss the state of Alison’s marriage. Susan tells her to do whatever it takes to keep the marriage together. Is Alison in agreement? Will she take Susan’s advice? Finally, the week winds down with Luke and Noah who find them selves at odds. They argue, but will they get over their differences?

Week of October 6
He’s back and he is continuing to cause havoc in Oakdale. Early this week, Dusty is the reason there’s a bit of a tiff between Lily and Holden. It occurs when Lily has a moment alone with Dusty and unbeknownst to Lily, Holden is privy to it. He sees Lily holding Dusty’s hand and does not take it with grace. In fact, he explodes! Why is Lily holding Dusty’s hand in the first place? Does Holden have a legitimate reason to be so concerned?
While on the other side of town, Meg is relieved in regard to Paul. She is finally permitted to visit him in the hospital. How is he doing? Speaking of Paul, he can’t get James out of his head. He is literally haunted by the ghost of James. What does Ghost James want of Paul. More importantly, will Paul be able -- or even want -- to do James’ bidding from beyond the grave?
As Paul struggles with visions of ghosts dancing in his head, the tide turns for good for Brad when he gets a new job offer. Will he accept the position? Is it a good career move? Tune in to As the World Turns this week to find out.
